Two days at the Norwich Showground in full summer — showjumping, pig racing, prize cattle pulling faces, and thousands of people enjoying the county at its best.

The Royal Norfolk Show is the biggest event in the county's calendar: two days at the Norfolk Showground, around 90,000 visitors and more than 750 businesses. I covered the Thursday.

A show this size is really a dozen events happening at once. Heavy horses crossing the ring in bright sun, handlers in white coats lining cattle up for judging, a fairground swing tilted against a cloudless sky, rose growers deep in conversation over their stalls, and a curly-coated bull leaning over a gate pulling a face that deserved a caption.

There's no single spot to stand at an agricultural show, so the job is mapping the day early — where the rings are, when the classes run, which way the crowds move — and then covering ground relentlessly. Most of the good stuff lasts a couple of seconds and doesn't happen twice.
